criteria for the participation awards

Team participation trophies will be awarded in the following categories:

 

1.  Best Theme - The committee will look at a combination of cabin/tent sites, costumes and characters associated with each team. They will also be looking at originality and creativity as the main criteria for the award.

 

2.  Best Costume - Two committee members will examine team members for the numbers, originality and continuity of their wardrobe.

 

3.  Best Costume with Props – Two committee members will allot points based on costume and props in originality and continuity of their wardrobe and site.

 

4.  Best Decorated Cabin/Tent Site - The committee is looking for originality, continuity with the team theme and eye catching details.

 

5.  Most Original Baton - Two committee members will allot points based on the baton's relevance to the team's theme, its uniqueness and practicality.

 

6.  Best Team Mascot - Two committee members will give points to each team mascot, its relevance to the teams theme, its visibility and its originality.

 

7.  Most Innovative LapThe innovative lap is a chance for your team to shine, by demonstrating your theme in a dramatic way (past teams have even scripted out their performance).  Consideration will be given to teams who display creativity, continuity and innovation in the performance.  This lap is a whole lot of laughs.

 

 8.  Sports Recognition - Awarded to the team who earns the most points in the team sporting events/picnic games/texas holdem/walking challenges  ie.  Volleyball ▪ Bocce Ball ▪ Tug of War ▪ Horseshoes ▪ Mummy Wrap▪ Water Races▪

 

AWARDS FOR THE TEAM WINNER OF EACH SPORTING/PICNIC

GAMES EVENT WILL BE AWARDED AFTER EACH EVENT

 

9.  Spirit Award Awarded to the team who demonstrates the most zest, energy, enthusiasm, SPIRIT….. Throughout the year!!.

 

10.  Most Money Raised for Employee/Team Base - 1 - 25 employees, 26 - 49 employees,

                                                                                             50 - 74 employees, 75 & Over employees

 

11.   Special Recognition Award

 

12.  Food Drive Award - Your team is encouraged to enter the food drive.  The food drive can take place throughout the year, and any food that your team has collected can be dropped off at the Shelter at any time prior to the relay.  Just let us know which team you are representing and an inventory list of the donation, keep an inventory for yourself as well!

 

 

13.  5th Year Anniversary Award & 10th Anniversary Awards - Teams that have participated in the Shelter House Relay for five consecutive years or 10 consecutive years.

 

14.  Air Band – Well, it’s all in the name…put on those dancing shoes & pick you’re favorite songs.  Award will be given to the team with the best grove.

 

15.  Karaoke Group

 

16.  Karaoke Individual

 

17.  Best on Site Fundraiser – Is awarded for spirit, enthusiasm, and fundraising site.

 

18. Crossing Borders Awards – Is awarded to those teams that enter a team from out of the City of Thunder Bay limits.
