Emergency Shelter

Shelter House is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.  We provide laundry facilities, showers and can accommodate up to 62 men, women and youth (age 16 to 18) in segregated dorms.  Our facility is a temporary, emergency shelter and does not offer long term housing

The ultimate goal is for each individual to secure adequate and affordable housing in the community.  Thunder Bay, like many other Canadian communities, faces a severe shortage of affordable housing. We work closely with outside social service agencies and provide appropriate referrals, outreach, life skills, crisis intervention, and work experience where possible to help residents move forward in securing a home.

Sponsor a Bed Program

For 62 men, women, and youth our emergency shelter is where they lay their heads at the end of the day. You can help support their transition back to independent living by donating today.

The average cost to support a homeless individual is $65.00 each night in our emergency shelter.

This cost covers 24/7 support, a safe warm bed, access to basic necessities, laundry facilities, three hot meals a day, and access to resources to get back to independent living.

Whether you can donate one night, or many nights. Any night matters to homeless individuals in our community.
