Meet another of our 2014 Raise the Rent participants! Here John tells us all why he's chosen to participate in this great event! If you want to join him in supporting the Shelter House, call Kerri today at 474-4357.

John Rafferty, MP

“It is an honour to once again participate in ‘Raise the Rent’. As you may know, my constituency office is located across the street from Shelter House. Every day my staff and I see the large number of people who go to the facility for their meals, for community services and for a safe place to spend the night. As volunteers we also understand the services offered by staff. The services not only address immediate needs, but link individuals to the community. Canada is in desperate need of a national housing strategy that will address the vital issue of affordable housing. As an elected official I continue to lobby for affordable housing. In the meantime I will continue to do my part in ‘raising the rent’ so that Shelter House can continue to play an invaluable role in our community. Thank you!”
